The WebFolders client does not provide a complete file system like abstraction to a WebDAV share.

For a list of known issues with the WebFolders client, please refer to this list.

On windows XP, there are several ways you can access a remote webdav server. WebFolders is the most basic one.

  • First, you need to open the My Network Places view. For this navigate to Start->My Network Places.

  • On the upper left corner of the task panel, click on the Add Network Place task. This should open up a wizard, click Next.AddNetworkPlaceWiz1.png
  • After some processing, you will be directed to the next screen. Here, you must select Choose another network location and click Next.AddNetworkPlaceWiz2.png
  • On the next screen you must specify the network path to your xwiki webdav server. By default this is http://<xwikihost>/xwiki/webdav/. Once you are done, click Next.

  • Here you'll be asked to provide login details for the xwiki webdav server. Use your login details for the corresponding xwiki server and click Next.

  • Give your new network place a name and click Next.

  • There you go! Your new network place should now be enlisted under My Network Places.
